A real plan for a weekly basket
14 everyday items, ZIP 10801 (New Rochelle, NY), stores within 5 miles, with a CVS ExtraCare and a Stop & Shop card and no paid memberships. Checked Oct 4, 11:51 PM ET and re-checked every 6 hours.

Cheapest regular gas within 5 miles: $4.33/gal cash at Gulf, 635 Main Street, New Rochelle — $4.32 less on a 12-gallon fill than the nearest station. Driver-reported, checked Oct 4, 11:51 PM ET.
Each total covers only the items that route has a price for — the "not priced here" count says how many of the 14 are left to buy elsewhere. Sizes differ between stores, so each price shows its pack size.

How prices are checked
Which stores. We find where your ZIP is, then every grocery store, pharmacy and warehouse club within the distance you choose (5 miles unless you say otherwise), using public map data. A chain only counts if one of its branches is in range, and each plan shows how far away it is. Stores farther out are listed as left out, so you can see what was skipped.
Store prices and specials. For each store in range we read this week's published ad: the sale price, multi-buys like "buy 1 get 1 free", "2nd 50% off" or "buy 2 get 1 free", and the fine print — "with card", digital coupons, and the price without the card when the ad prints it.
Your memberships and rewards. You tell us which free store cards you have (CVS ExtraCare, myWalgreens, Stop & Shop, ShopRite Price Plus and so on) and which paid memberships (Costco, Walmart+, Instacart+, FreshDirect DeliveryPass, DashPass, Uber One). Card prices, coupons and rewards like "buy 2, get $5 ExtraBucks" count only at stores where you have the card. The rest are listed as "free cards that would save you more". ExtraBucks and Walgreens Cash you earn are shown as money back for your next trip, apart from what you pay today. We can't see your account itself, so personal offers loaded to your card in a store's app don't show up.
Unit prices. Every price we can size gets a unit price — per ounce, per pound, per count, per roll — so a 30-roll warehouse pack and a 6-roll drugstore pack compare fairly. Your plan shows the cheapest pack and the best value per unit side by side, and when a Costco, Sam's Club or BJ's pack would be cheaper per unit but you're not a member, it says so.
Which credit card to use. Tell us the cards you carry and we name the one that earns the most at each store on your route, at the pump and for delivery — a 4x supermarket card at Stop & Shop, a 2x card at CVS. We use how purchases usually code (Walmart and Target as superstores, Costco as a warehouse club that takes only Visa), count points at the value you choose, and name annual caps. Your card numbers are never asked for.
Gas. We read regular-gas prices reported by drivers on GasBuddy for stations within your distance, cash and credit, and show what you'd really pay per gallon after your best gas card's reward. Prices older than four days are left out.
Online prices and the wait. We also read online prices from store websites (CVS.com, Costco.com and others), and FreshDirect's prices where it delivers and its site lets us read them — when it doesn't, your plan says so and links you there. Item by item, you see whether the store or online is cheaper and how long each takes: the drive to the store in person, or the typical wait for same-day, next-day or shipped delivery.
Delivery. We compare the whole basket delivered from one place, with each service's published fee and your memberships applied: Walmart, Target, CVS and Walgreens delivery, Instacart for the other stores, DoorDash and Uber Eats from their partner stores (CVS, Walgreens, Stop & Shop, Aldi, Safeway and others, where they deliver), and FreshDirect. DashPass and Uber One are counted if you have them. App and Instacart item prices can run higher than the shelf, and we say so.
What we can't see yet. Everyday shelf prices that aren't in an ad or on a store's website, Amazon, and stores that don't publish an ad we can read (each plan names the nearby ones). When an item has no price we can read, the plan says so instead of guessing. Every price shows when it was checked, its pack size, and when its ad ends.
Any ZIP code. The example above uses New Rochelle, NY (10801). Enter your own ZIP anywhere in the US and every price, store and gas station is for your area.
Privacy. Your list, ZIP and memberships are used only to price your plan. We don't sell or share them, and you can delete your account and data yourself from Settings at any time.
